Found this Week – Made in the USA – Week 22

Not a whole lot this week.

Minuteman Pens, but their store has been closed since I ran across it.

I was happy to find my new favorite website, http://www.backfence.com/

It has all of the small local business’ in a number of areas listed. Another great looking site is http://www.locallectual.com/ I’ve not had time to check them out very much, but they seem to have a wealth of information.

∞Enjoy.

Update on SilBlade Windshield Wipers

41r92601xxl_sl500_aa280_

I had a race this weekend and I came in dead middle. My class was running only 3 cars, I came in second. Everyone running consisted of roughly 100 people, I came in 50th. I hit no cones. It was pouring down rain half of my runs.

Luckily I had SilBlade. Even when the wipers weren’t on I had a relatively clear view in front of me. They seem to have some additive on the blades that bead up rain on the windshield.  I must say, I wasn’t too keen on this at first. However(and there is always a however in life) I fell in love with the beading rain, and the SilBlade, this week.

Normally when it rains, I have a thin layer of water streaming down my windshield. This is not good at high speeds when you need to see where you are actually going.  Even with a light mist, the ability to see out the windshield is greatly improved.

Now to the wiper. I say wiper because I purchased only one. What can I say, I’m cheap and I wanted to compare directly the difference. The SilBlade wiper glides smoothly over the windshield weather it’s wet or not. While my passenger side blade is chattering due to lack of lubrication, the SilBlade on the driver side is perfectly wiping the light mist away. That sold me on this blade instantly.

Get your SilBlade on Amazon

To give you an idea of what it was like sunday, here is a video of a fellow autocrosser…  And this was the dry part of the day.

Update:  Not made in the USA any more… Purchased one recently and it was made in Taiwan. Sad, but I still have the Original blade on my car… 2 years later :)

Equinox Outdoor gear – Sleeping bags, Hiking packs, etc.

2009-05-28_0731

I’ve been looking for a new sleeping bag for a few months. My current bag(eggplant) is from when I was like 10 and going to summer camp. Eggplant protects to temperatures down to 65 degrees. Enough about this, Let’s talk about Equinox.

So, I ran across Equinox on the PennPortal blog, Equinox makes Hiking/Day bags, cargo bags, Sleeping bags, many other outdoor living accessories. They are made in Williamsport Pennsylvania, for over 20 years.

I’m going to go with the Forest Green Koala camp bag. (I’ll skip the Eggplant this time)

Pinaud-Clubman – You can smell great too

yhst-16274294850213_2053_6796450

I smell great.

Clubman has got some amazing scents. Lime sec is where my experiment started… well let’s go back a bit…

I’ve never worn any sort of cologne or deodorant, because I don’t, normally, need it. I did want to smell good though. So, I tried some crappy stuff from some online cologne shop. About 10 different scents, they all gave me a headache.

Now, I’ve found an American manufacturer that makes some of the best scents I’ve had on my body.

As mentioned, it started with the Lime sec. Got it in the mail, shaved, slapped some on my face, and fell in love. Crisp spring/summer smell, Limey with a spice after smell.

I went back and ordered some Virgin Island Bay Rum(Which I’m wearing right now), Lilac Vegetal, and the Eau de Quinine Hair Tonic.  Each of them remind me of barber shops and my grandpa.

There is a hair stuff called American Crew that I normally use for my hair, just to keep it under control. It works very well but I have no idea where it’s made. I can go without, but the hair can go crazy at times.  Figured I would give the Clubman Hair tonic a shot.

I smell great, You can smell great too.

Henry Repeating Arms – Lever Carbine .22 S/L/LR

h001l_levercarbine_lg

My Uncle and I went to the shooting range last weekend. I enjoy plinking at targets.

We setup our targets, mine was at the 50 yard and about an 8-inch target with 2-inch wide rings . Turned off the “cease fire light”. He was testing something that about made me mess my pants every time.

Loaded this baby up with some Federal .22 LR and began plinking away. First few shots were difficult to tell where they ended up. Once the sight was adjusted a little, they started hitting the target. I’m not very accurate… This guy However is very accurate with his Golden boy, testament to how accurate the Henry rifles really are.  The main thing is, I need to do more testing. The plan is to put up some wax paper next time to get an idea of where stuff is really hitting, and I need a monocular.

I setup another target to test my old Winchester 190, Got the scope sighted in and I was able to hit the middle 4 inches of the target, most of the time. Still.. This one was missing something. I love the action of cranking that leaver after every shot. The Winchester 190 dosn’t have that.

All in all, I’m proud to own this fine firearm.  I can’t wait to go shooting again, maybe hunting. Also trying to figure out what Henry Rifle to pickup next.

I missed some weeks somewhere… Oh well.  Sick this past weekend, the flu is not much fun, Should have worn a mask. I’ve decided to automate this process a little to provide a little more consistent results. The Found this week series should be publishing every Sunday.

Found some Hoses at Target.  Ran across the Armadillo Garden Hose online.

Bottled my beer Saturday. I do hope it turns out OK.
