Found this Week – Made in the USA – Week 15

I was rather disappointed this week in a local chain of, what used to be, military surplus stores. Not sure what happened, but they have started selling a lot of imported stuff. Some of it looks to be good quality, some is not. They do still have some military stuff. But most of it has been replaced by the aforementioned stuff.

Oh well… still found a couple things.

Didn’t see much else.

Sterilite: Plastic Storage, Houseware, and More

3192trkaw8l_ss500_

I was amazed to find that my Sterilite Tubs and Laundry baskets were Made in the US. I was so Impressed, I needed to find out more. Where were these made?

I use a couple sterilite tubs for Computer equipment and Music Recording equipment. Rather heavy and the tubs hold up. I also have one in my car to keep all the stuff in my trunk in one place (Very handy for Autocross Racing). A couple for my Laundry, had these since I moved out of the parents house about 8 or 9 years ago, that is durability.

So I sent them an email to find out more, I like it when I get a response to my Information requests (It means less writing for me).

Eye-Fi SD card with WiFi – Made in the USA

efcard_blue_homeefcard_green_shareefcard_red_explore

I’m a big computer geek and a sucker for technology. I have been interested in this card for a year or two.  The day finally came where I gave in and bought one. When the package was opened, my eyes were drawn to where the card is made… WOW! the Card is Made in the USA.

The SD card was made in Milpitas, California. It does come with an SD card adapter that was made in China, but, the main product is made in the US.

This isn’t just your average SD card, It hooks up via wireless access point/router with your PC (see how it works here).  No cables, no hassle, and your pictures are transferred to the PC.

Comes in a few versions.  If you choose The Share, you now have the option to automatically upload to over 20 photo sharing sites. The Explore, which gets you geo tagging/hot spot access for 1 year in addition to the sharing sites.  I have the Home, it’s so easy, just take pictures and turn the camera on at home.  Photos get uploaded without doing anything.

Thanks for Manufacturing your Electronics in the US Eye-Fi. And an awesome product at that.

Pyrex Glass Products ARE made in the USA.

pyrex

Sometimes things will sneak up on you.  I originally purchased some of the pyrex storage stuff so I didn’t have to buy those little plastic tubs that last only for 4 microwave sessions.  ha, Guess what? They are made in the Pennsylvania, USA.  How great is that?

You can Support this site and Pyrex by buying from Pyrex’s Amazon store.

Dexter-Russell Cutlery

hamburgerflipper

I was searching for a good spatula or hamburger flipper.

A friend and I went to a Restaurant supply warehouse near my home.  I ran across the Dexter Russell 6in. by 3in. Hamburger turner. Let me tell you, it’s awesome. I don’t have any trouble getting under eggs or any other potential stick-to-the-pan foods I normally run into problems with.  This is one of the best pieces of kitchen equipment I own.

They also have a serious line up of Cutlery

Please note, not all of their cutlery is made in the USA (I’m still waiting on confirmation of one series of cutlery), They do have some German Steel too.

Atwood Knives (and multi-tools)

atwood

Hello, My name is Ryan, and I’m addicted to Atwood’s pocket tools.

Seriously, is there a support group out there for this? I have only a few of these.   Peter’s tools are so popular he had to start a lottery to purchase one, to be fair to everyone. On the First go at the lottery guess who wins?  Yes I did.  If you are interested in getting one, Watch his Blog for announcements on items for sale or lottery.

G4 Prybaby, TiBottleBug, TiBaby, and a PryBaby that I carry with me everywhere.

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on one, they are all designed to be multifunctional. I regularly use my PryBaby(Bottom) to open boxes, Schlafly Beer, take out nails or pushpins, or anything else that needs prying, screwing, or scraping.  I have attacked some serious tasks with it, and won.

I lust after a SOPThing… Preferably a black one with the v-notch… Maybe one day.

Thanks for what you do Peter.

Texas Jeans

texasjeans I own 5 pair of the Carpenter Jeans.
They have a great fit, Very thick jean material, and after over a year, show no signs of wear (I wear and wash them weekly).  Couldn’t be happier.
I had been looking for Jeans at stores and online for a long time. Finally last year I ran across Texas Jean Co.  They had exactly what I was looking for.  I placed an order on their Store site for 5 pairs of jeans.
I was a little worried at first, not being able to try on before hand. How would they fit? What was the quality?  I must say I was Blown away.  These are some of the best fitting jeans (I got the carpenter style) I’ve ever had and the stitching and material are top notch.
One issue on one pair, out of the 5, didn’t have belt loops.  Ha, The good part is They fit so perfect I’ll never need a belt, and didn’t notice they were missing for a while.  I did not contact them about this because it was not an issue for me.
Flavors of jeans:
About:

Texas Jeans was founded long ago with one idea in mind. Keep it American. Owner and President Wallace Thompson wanted to have a jean that was top quality, rugged, and great fitting. But he also wanted to keep the price so everyone could take advantage of this idea. Many other big name brand jean companies moved their production overseas to keep their costs down, yet for some reason the price of the jean went up! Mr. Thompson vowed his factory would never go overseas, nor would he compromise quality for cash. He would bring a great fitting, high quality, reasonably priced jean to the masses. 100% made in the USA Texas Brand Jeans became not only a jean, but a idea. American workers making an American product of top quality priced right.
